2. Niihau, Hawaii
Niihau is often called the “Forbidden Island.” It sits about eighteen miles southwest of Kauai in Hawaii. Most people are not allowed to visit at all.
The island is privately owned by the Robinson family. Only residents, their relatives, U.S. Navy personnel, government officials, and guests invited by the owners can set foot on Niihau. It is home to a very small population.
