2. Crater Lake – Oregon
Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States, formed in a collapsed volcano thousands of years ago. It has no rivers flowing in or out, so the water remains incredibly clean. Its intense blue color is the result of depth and clarity.
Surrounded by cliffs over 1,000 feet tall, the lake is best viewed from the scenic Rim Drive. In summer, boat tours to Wizard Island are available, and in winter, the area becomes a quiet snow-covered retreat. It’s a perfect example of untouched natural beauty.
