Scooter Braun Says Taylor Swift’s ‘Vigilante S—’ Isn’t About His Divorce From Yael Cohen

Post categories:

Scooter Braun took the mic recently—and not to promote a new artist. On the Question Everything podcast, the music executive shut down persistent fan speculation: Taylor Swift’s edgy hit “Vigilante S—” has zero connection to his split from Yael Cohen.

He laughed it off, stating Taylor “never thought it was about us,” and added that speculation boils down to pure coincidence.

Scooter Braun Shuts Down all The Rumors in a Podcast Show

Scooter Braun isn’t here for the fan fiction. On the Question Everything podcast, the music mogul put an end to the swirling speculation that Taylor Swift’s 2022 revenge track “Vigilante S—” is about his divorce from Yael Cohen.

Braun said, brushing off the theory with a laugh:

“She never thought it was about us,”

“I talk to Yael every day. We’re family. This just isn’t our story.”

The lyric in question:

“Picture me thick as thieves with your ex-wife”

sent fans into a frenzy when the track dropped. But Braun insists it’s pure coincidence. he added:

“People love to connect dots that were never meant to be connected,”

Still Close With Yael Cohen and No Drama

Despite their split in 2022, Braun and Cohen have stayed close. Braun said on the podcast.

“We don’t even call each other ex. Yael is one of my best friends. “That will never change. Divorce doesn’t have to be war.”

The two co-parent their children and remain in regular contact, with Braun openly calling her “family for life.”

In fact, the former couple share matching “same team” tattoos, a nod to their continued partnership in parenting and friendship.

The Real Pain Was Losing the Dream, Not a Song

While the internet ran wild with song theories, Braun got real about what actually broke him—and it wasn’t a pop anthem.

“It wasn’t the public fallout or a song lyric that got to me. It was losing what I thought was the perfect life. I had the family, the career, the image. And when that shattered, I felt like a failure.”

The emotional cost was personal, not public. And while Swift has never commented on the Braun-Cohen theory directly, her past comments on songwriting say enough:

Swift once told Rolling Stone.

“I don’t name names in my songs, But if you hear your story in it—maybe it’s your story to reckon with.”

In Braun’s case, he’s made peace with his. And according to him, “Vigilante S—” wasn’t even a chapter in it.
