A Pennsylvania man who allegedly killed and decapitated his father before uploading a graphic video to YouTube told a court he believed the act was politically justified, claiming his father tried to prevent him from pursuing a political career similar to Donald Trump.
Justin Mohn Charged in January Homicide
Justin Mohn, 33, is charged with first-degree murder and multiple other offenses following the January 30, 2024, killing of his father, Michael Mohn, in Levittown. According to court testimony reported by the Associated Press, Mohn claimed he intended to carry out a citizen’s arrest for what he called “treason.”
Claims of Political Motivation

Mohn testified that his actions were part of a larger political statement. Describing his parents as liberal, he said he wanted government employees to resign and called for the elimination of public debt. He told the court that after declaring the arrest, he shot his father in the bathroom when he allegedly tried to grab the gun and threatened him.
“Unfortunately, he resisted,” Mohn stated.
Emotional Testimony from Family

His mother, Denice Mohn, broke down in tears during the hearing as her son described the events.
Investigators say Mohn later uploaded a video showing himself holding his father’s severed head and calling for violence against federal officials. He was taken into custody shortly after the incident and charged with murder, corpse abuse, and weapons violations.
Prosecutors revealed that after the killing, Mohn traveled to a National Guard training site in an apparent attempt to recruit support for an anti-government uprising.
