Catherine Zeta-Jones is setting the record straight about her glamorous lifestyle. Despite owning four properties worldwide with husband Michael Douglas, the Oscar-winning actress insists that her approach to luxury is more about comfort and artistry than excess.
Living Between Four Homes — Without the “Excess” Label

In a candid interview with The Sunday Times, Zeta-Jones, 55, revealed that she and Douglas, 80, maintain residences in Spain, Canada, and two in New York. While some may call it extravagant, the Wednesday star views the homes as part of a balanced life.
“I know it sounds very jet set, and I love to surround myself with beauty,” she explained, “but it’s not excessive, it’s very comfortable.”
The couple’s most notable property is the $32 million Mallorca estate, S’Estaca, which Douglas originally purchased in 1990 with ex-wife Diandra Luker. Following their divorce, Douglas admitted it was “very uncomfortable” sharing the estate, but the home is now fully owned by him and Zeta-Jones.
He has since called the property “magical,” noting that it will remain in the family for generations.
A Practical Approach to Fashion

Though she enjoys couture and vintage finds, Zeta-Jones insists she’s far from reckless when it comes to spending. “For me, a pair of jeans is a pair of jeans. Spending £200 [$270] on a white T-shirt? Nah,” she laughed.
Instead, the actress says her indulgence lies in timeless fashion artistry, from beaded couture gowns to classic Yves Saint Laurent pieces. “I love the theatre of fashion,” she added, emphasizing that she gravitates toward clothing that tells a story rather than trend-driven splurges.
From Humble Beginnings to Hollywood Legacy

Zeta-Jones’ grounded outlook stems from her upbringing in Swansea, Wales. Her father, David, worked in a candy factory before winning over $135,000 in bingo, which helped fund her early dance lessons. Her mother, Patricia, was a seamstress — influences that gave her both a work ethic and an appreciation for craftsmanship.
Married to Douglas since 2000, the couple share two children, Dylan, 25, and Carys, 22. Douglas also has an older son, Cameron, 46, from his first marriage. Now preparing for their 25th wedding anniversary, the Hollywood power couple continue to balance family, legacy, and a lifestyle that Zeta-Jones insists is less about extravagance and more about meaningful living.
