4. Angel’s Landing, Zion National Park

Angel’s Landing is a famous hiking trail in Zion National Park, Utah. The path leads up a steep ridge with sharp drop-offs on both sides. Chains are anchored along portions of the trail to help hikers keep their balance.
The hike is known for its narrow sections and sudden cliffs. Some areas offer little room to pass, and the trail can get crowded. Many visitors report feeling nervous because of the heights involved.
Angel’s Landing has seen several fatal accidents over the years. At least 14 people have died from falls while hiking this trail, making it one of the most dangerous hikes in the US. Because of these risks, a permit system was introduced to help limit the number of hikers and improve safety.
