1. Kalalau Trail, Hawaii

The Kalalau Trail is located on the island of Kauai. Stretching about 11 miles along the rugged Na Pali Coast, this trail is famous for both its beauty and its dangers.
Hikers encounter cliffs, narrow ledges, and slippery mud, especially after rain. Several sections have sharp drop-offs right beside the path. Unpredictable weather, landslides, and flash floods have led to multiple closures and rescues over the years.
Swimming near the trail is also risky because of strong ocean currents. In 2024, the trail faced a norovirus outbreak, adding another layer of hazard. The Kalalau Trail is often considered one of the most dangerous hikes in the United States.
