Backstreet Boys x *NSYNC? The Boy Band Collab We’ve All Been Waiting For

Post categories:

It’s the collab fans never stopped hoping for, and it may finally be closer than we think.

Nick Carter just reignited pop culture dreams with a few key words: “We’ve talked about it a ton.” In a recent interview with Parade, the Backstreet Boys singer revealed that internal talks have been happening behind the scenes, and the subject? A potential onstage team-up with *NSYNC.

While nothing is officially set, fans of both groups, who dominated the late ‘90s and early 2000s, have reason to believe the long-standing rivalry might evolve into the ultimate nostalgic alliance.

In Parade’s July cover story, Carter opened up about how talks between managers and team members have taken place over time.

“It just hasn’t lined up yet,” he admitted, “but we’ve definitely talked about it.”

This isn’t the first time a crossover has been brought up. Carter reminisced about their tour with New Kids on the Block (the NKOTBSB Tour) — calling it an unforgettable experience that surprised fans. That unexpected partnership is now inspiring the thought: *Why not *NSYNC next?

As Carter put it, “They never thought that it would ever happen.” Which is exactly what could make it magical.

The *NSYNC members, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick, have remained mostly noncommittal about a reunion. Still, they reunited in 2023 to drop “Better Place” for the Trolls Band Together soundtrack, their first song in over 20 years.

Joey Fatone told PEOPLE that while nothing has been confirmed, the door isn’t closed:

“We haven’t had that conversation yet… But the five of us need to get together.”

In other words, the desire is there — it’s just a matter of timing, location, and making it real.

The Timing Feels Right

The Backstreet Boys are already gearing up for something big: their Las Vegas residency this summer at the Sphere, bringing their iconic Millennium album to life across nine nights. It’s a “rebirth,” as Howie Dorough described it — a chance to reintroduce their music to old and new fans alike.

So why not go even bigger? The Vegas stage, a crowd already primed for nostalgia, and two of the most beloved boy bands in pop history… it’s a setup that almost writes itself.

Whether it’s 2025 or beyond, one thing is clear: the fans are ready. And based on what Nick Carter said, maybe, just maybe, the boys are too.
