3. Anasazi
The Anasazi, or Ancestral Puebloans, built remarkable cliff dwellings in the American Southwest between 500 and 1300 CE. Their sudden abandonment of these settlements remains a mystery. While theories suggest drought or resource depletion, no single cause has been definitively proven. The Anasazi’s advanced architecture and culture continue to be a point of fascination for archaeologists.
