6. Lake Kivu
Lake Kivu, between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, looks calm but is very dangerous. It holds deadly gases deep in its waters. If these gases suddenly escape, they can cause a deadly explosion called a limnic eruption. Millions of people live nearby, so the risk is real.
