7. Branch Davidians
The Branch Davidians, led by David Koresh, gained national attention after a 51-day standoff with federal agents in 1993. A raid over abuse and weapons led to a gunfight, followed by a fire that killed 76 people, including Koresh. The event shocked the world and raised concerns about cults and government force.
