3. Black Mamba
Africa’s fastest and most feared snake, the Black Mamba can slither at speeds of up to 12 mph and deliver multiple deadly bites in seconds. Its venom is a potent neurotoxin that causes death within hours if untreated. Despite its name, the snake is actually olive-gray, with the “black” referring to the inside of its mouth.
