1. The Elgin Marbles – Greece’s Stolen Glory

These intricate marble sculptures once adorned the Parthenon in Athens. In the early 1800s, Lord Elgin removed them—claiming permission from the Ottoman Empire—and shipped them to Britain.
Today, they sit in the British Museum, despite repeated and passionate pleas from Greece for their return. To many, they represent the scars of colonial theft, still on public display.
