4. Scorpionfish
Closely related to the stonefish, the scorpionfish is armed with venomous spines along its back. These bottom-dwellers are masters of camouflage, blending seamlessly with coral reefs and rocks. A sting from a scorpionfish can cause swelling, pain, and tissue damage. Though fatalities are rare, the pain is intense and long-lasting.
