Joseph Stalin ruled the Soviet Union with complete control, using fear and violence to keep power. His policies forced many into farms, causing deadly famines, especially the Holodomor in Ukraine. During the Great Purge, he arrested and executed thousands seen as enemies. His rule brought suffering and fear to millions across the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.
