3. Maya Bay, Thailand
Made famous by the film The Beach, Maya Bay was closed in 2018 to allow its ecosystem to recover. Though it reopened in 2022 with strict limits, Thai authorities frequently close it seasonally to prevent long-term damage. Visitors can no longer swim there, and access is restricted to short visits under supervision to protect the coral reef and marine life.
