3. Stone Man Syndrome
Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP), or “Stone Man Syndrome,” is one of the most bizarre medical conditions known. In this condition, the body’s soft tissues gradually turn into bone, severely restricting movement over time.
FOP occurs due to a genetic mutation and can cause complete immobility. Affected individuals may experience flare-ups where soft tissues like muscles and ligaments transform into bone, almost “turning them into stone.”
