8. The Minoans
Living on the island of Crete around 2000 BCE, the Minoans were famous for their art, ships, and palaces. Their culture ended suddenly, leaving behind myths like the Minotaur.
Why They’re Mysterious:
- The palace of Knossos is full of advanced architecture.
- Their script, Linear A, remains undeciphered.
- Possible destruction by a volcanic eruption or invasion.
