In the deserts of the American Southwest, the Ancestral Puebloans built homes inside cliffs and towers that still stand today. By 1300 CE, they mysteriously abandoned their settlements.
Why They’re Mysterious:
- Their cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde amaze visitors.
- Sudden disappearance from large villages.
- Possible reasons: drought, conflict, or migration.
