At first glance, the platypus seems like a curious and harmless animal, with its duck-like bill and beaver-like tail. However, male platypuses have venomous spurs on their hind legs that can deliver a painful and potentially debilitating sting. Though not fatal, the venom can cause swelling, excruciating pain, and fever.
