Michelangelo’s The Last Judgment shocked the world with its bold portrayal of nearly 300 nude figures; including; Christ and saints; in a sacred space, challenging the religious norms of its time. By mixing religious icons with mythological characters and presenting a youthful, throne-less Christ, Michelangelo pushed boundaries that stirred intense controversy and led to later censorship efforts.
