4. Cinque Terre Trails, Italy
The scenic cliffside paths were overwhelmed by tourists, many ignoring trail rules. Damage to the fragile terrain became so severe that authorities had to close certain sections. Fines were imposed for wearing improper footwear. Restoration work was ongoing for years. This UNESCO site still struggles with managing visitor impact.
