1. Maya Bay, Thailand
Once a stunning paradise made famous by The Beach, Maya Bay suffered from massive tourist overcrowding. Coral reefs were destroyed, marine life declined, and trash littered the area. The Thai government shut it down in 2018 for recovery. Strict visitor limits were later introduced. It’s a strong example of nature harmed by over-tourism.
