U2’s frontman, born Paul David Hewson, got the nickname “Bono Vox” from a friend, referencing a hearing aid store in Dublin. It meant “good voice” in Latin. Eventually shortened to Bono, the name stuck and became an iconic identity linked to his music and humanitarian work.
