5. Marburg Virus

Similar to Ebola, the Marburg virus is a rare but highly contagious pathogen causing hemorrhagic fever with a fatality rate of up to 88%. It is transmitted through contact with infected animals or human bodily fluids. Symptoms include fever, vomiting blood, and organ failure. Although outbreaks are sporadic, the virus’s high mortality rate makes it one of the deadliest pathogens in the world.
