Ebola hemorrhagic fever is a deadly virus that causes severe bleeding, organ failure, and high mortality rates. Transmitted through bodily fluids, Ebola outbreaks have occurred mostly in West Africa. The virus attacks the immune system, and once symptoms such as fever and vomiting set in, the chance of survival is very low without intensive medical care.
Vaccines have been developed, but outbreaks still pose a significant threat.
