9. Botfly
The human botfly doesn’t kill directly, but its larva burrows into the skin and lives there. The infection can lead to tissue damage and dangerous secondary infections. Found in Central and South America, it causes psychological trauma and serious complications if not removed. Though rare, untreated infestations can become life-threatening, especially in poor health conditions.
